Hello,
i found this under the wissendatabank - http://www.a3-freunde.de/wiki/TuningBremsanlage
I was just wondering how do i find out if my car have the FN-3 or the FS-3 „bremsanlage“ ?
My car is A3 8L 1.8 Turbo 20v 1998 Model Ambition
Best regards
Martin
your car its a turbo = FN3 !!! 288mm
best reguards Devil666
also it’s usually easily visible on the brake caliper
Thanks.
As i understand it is pretty easy to do the S3 conversion then.
I have been using the search function, and can see that people usually talk about 2 other alternatives to the S3 „scheiben“, the Zimmermann and ATE discs.
I dont know much about breaks. But the original parts seem to work pretty well and dont make much noise.
I can see that the Zimmermann are pretty cheap compared to the original S3 discs. But are they just as good ? Do they make a lot of noise ?
What would you recommend i buy ? Original S3, Zimmermann or something else (in the same price category).
Also, though it is not mentioned in the guide in the Wissendatenbank, wouldnt I also need new „Bremsbelaegen“ ? and should it be with or without „Warnkontakt“ ? (i dont know if my car have that i have been out looking but cant see it as it is behind the disc) ?
Also it says that i only have to buy 2x 8L0 615 125,
but what about the „Bremssattelgehaeuse“ (8L0615 123 / 124) ? Do i already have them (are the 1.8T ones the same as the S3 ones) ?
Best regards
Martin

Some Zimmermann or ATE Brake Discs have machined holes across their surface, resulting from it a better wet-brake behaviour. This Brake Disc shown like this http://www.opm-germany.de/nms/galerie/images/galerie/Wz7JU45IjF55.jpg
