Neue Sitze in alten model

Hello,

i just tried with a topic that i hoped you could understand.
Probably not written correctly :slight_smile:

It seems that most of you dont speak / understand english, is that true ?
(if true - i guess i will have to try to have it translated)

Anyway the problem is.

I have and Audi A3 8L from 98 with the old type of plugs for the seats.
I have some R32 seats i want to fit in my car which have another type of airbag plug (1 extra cable), plus another plug (which includes seat heat).

Does anyone know how to fit the seats soo the airbag will work correctly ? (i know it is possible).

Is it maybe possible to buy some type of convertion cable ? or how do i make one myself ?

hi martin,

I think this is a rather complicated problem…if there are any differences in voltage (or using of the different pins in the air-bag-plug) these will never work correctly…

better no experiments with security-relavant parts!

hope you get the problem solved by your VW/audi-dealer?

Hello Lonnie,

There is one extra cable in the airbag plug on the new seats.
I have talked to VW / Audi Flensburg, and they say it is possible to make it work.
The extra cable just have to be connected to some other cable, and then you have to upload some new settings to the car.

But yes you are probably right, i better just let them handle the airbag stuff.

I would cry every night if my new R32 seats exploded… :slight_smile:

Hi!

Have you some pics from the RS32 seats?

to the topic:
i would install the seats and components, but the savety-components should install your audi-dealer. then you have besides a functionality warranty, that the airbags are working…
they only must connet some cables, so i think that its not so expensive. something about 25 €…

PS: Are you the only Denmark A3-Driver? :wink: I´ve never seen somebody else here…

yes i have some pictures of the seats.
I have uploaded one to this post. They are new, and of course i also have the other seat aswell as the seats in the back.

Yes i will let Audi in Germany handle it, i have just made my wirring harness and put it in the car soo it is ready to be connected correctly by Audi.

No i am not the only A3 driver in Denmark :slight_smile:
But remember the Audi A3 cost about 3 times your price in Denmark (it is very expensive to buy a car in Denmark).

We have a very big danish VAG forum in Denmark, which people normally use.
Most people are not soo good at german i think, and it seems that many people in here either doesnt like to read / write in english or they cant.

Ich mach jetzt mal auf deutsch. übersetzen müssen andere.

hat dein airbagstecker jetzt zwei oder drei leitungen? wenn du im moment zwei hast und am neuen vw/audi sitz sind am stecker drei zu sehen dann ist alles ganz easy.

weil auch dein sitzairbag mit zwei leitungen hat eigentlich auch drei leitungen, nämlich gehäusemasse für die sprengladung. wenn du bei deinen alten bags genau nachschaust sieht du es. in den alten sitzen ist blos diese masse nicht wie bei den neueren sitzen im stecker mit drin sondern mit gewebeband an der leitung dran und dann halt mit fahrzeugmasse verbunden.

Hello Flo,

meiner airbagstecker hat nur zwei (2) leitungen.

Es wird gut das man es easy gemachen können / kann.

Ich bin nicht ganz sicher das ich der letze part auf der text verstanden.

Ich habe der neue stecker aus Audi gekauft, und will gern der stecker machen.

Kann niemall mich hilfen mit ubersetzen die letze part ?

Sorry my German is very bad soo i better just write it in english also.

It sounds good that it should be easy to fix.

My current airbag plug is the small one with only 2 cables in it.

Can anyone help me with translating the last part of flos message ? (of how it is fixed - how i make the new plugs).

As far as i can understand the extra cable should be connected to the brown (ground) ?
Also will i need to program the control unit in the car, to make it work properly ?

And last but not least doest it matter which type / size of cable i use ?

I have bought the new airbags plugs from Audi.

Wie sieht deiner neuer stecker aus? Hat er platz für vier pins und sind nur drei im stecker belegt? wenn ja dann hol dir von audi die gegenstecker von deinen Sitzstecker. die beiden pins die, im neuen stecker, auf der einen seite sind (blau und braun) sind deine airbag leitungen wie gehabt (beim umpinen aufpassen das du nicht verpolst) und der einzelne braune(?) verbindest du mit einer masseleitung (meistens braun) aus dem roten stecker der unter deinen sitz, an der karosse ist, als Beispiel. Am beste du nimmst dir ein durchgangsprüfer oder einer Voltmeter und prüfst mit dem dann den durchgang von den einzelnen airbagleitungen deines neuen sitzes gegen ein metallteil von der sitzkonsole. dürfte nur eins der kabel sein und dieses legst einfach auf masse.

Hello Flo,

meiner neue Airbag stecker (im sitze) hat platz fur 3 pins und alle pins ist belegt.
In airbag stecker (im neue sitze) sind, Braun - Blau - Schwartz.

Meiner alten airbag stecker im auto (original leitungsnet) hat 2 pins und alle pins ist belegt. Es sind Gelb / Blue - und Gelb / Grün (im origial stecker im auto).

Ich habe die stecker aus dem alten sitze gekauft wie ich einer adapter zu machen wollen.

Im rot stecker habe ich nur eine braun (masse) leitung (wie du sagst)

Im neuen sitze habe ich 4 leitungen (im gross stecker), ich glaube das 3 sind für die sitze heizung.

Hat nieman eine diagram fur sitze heizung im Audi A3 8L? oder eine „installations guide“ ?
