Dach Schienen (Roof rails) - how do i mount them ? (8L)

Hello,

i just wanted to know how i mount the roof rails on the 8L ?

It is the ones which is one both side of the roof and there is „dichtung“ which they have to be inserted into.

What i dont know is, if i should put the dichtung on the rails and the push them into the roof, or should i put the dichtung on the roof, and the push the rails into the dichtung.

I have tried both but it seems hard to get the both mounted.

Hope someone can help me.

Maybe give them some lubricate soo they are easier to fit ?

I have attached a picture soo i am sure you know what i mean.

Best regards

Martin

hallo ich glaube die dichtung ins dach und dann die lweiste in die dichtung kann es dir aber auch nicht genau sagen.
Warumm so eine mischung aus deutsch und englisch?

Hi Martin,

I think I know your problem…and I also asked my „friendy Audi-Dealer“ how to fix this roof-seals.
He show me a little trick with this „rubbers“.
You have to heat up the rubbers in how water !
So the rubbers will become softer and you can fix it easier.

You also have to use a lubricant or tallow in the roof rail.

Take care about the hooks in the end of this rails.
Because you can easy damage the paint in the end of the roof. Maybe you should use a screwdriver with a rap on the top to prevent scratches.

I hope this answer will bring you yout necessary success.

Hello

Thanks for the answers.

I used a few german words in between the English words (2 to be exact) because i thought it would make it easier to understand as you would probably not know the English words (and thereby not know what i meant).

I write in English because i am better at it, than German.
I understand German though, and are also able to write in it, sometimes i just dont seem to get the right meaning out of it (and i hate, der, die das dem,…)

After all I have experienced soo far that most Germans are not good at writting or reading English …
:stock:
Soo it probably gave some kind of advantages that i had at least one word in the subject that you could understand (even though it was probably not the correct term for it).

Piddy99: I assume that how you mounted it was with the rails placed in the rubber (dichtung) before it was placed on the roof ?

Because it is of course no problem to mount the rubber (dichtung) by it self without the rail in it.
